The text below is a translation of the original Modern Home feature.

Featured in Modern Home, written by Miranda Wong with photography supplied by Artwill Interior Design House, this home story centres on a 1,539 sq ft residence (saleable area) in Mid-Levels Central on Hong Kong Island. The flat itself reads like a pendant lamp in plan: the ends of the rooms curve into semicircles, while the living and dining zone at the front sits closer to a trapezoid. Rather than fight the irregular shape, Regina Kwok and her team drew it out with custom cabinetry tailored to the geometry, letting storage follow the walls and curves so the quirk of the layout becomes its character.

The shared spaces are arranged in an open plan. By taking down the two partition walls between the dining room and the entrance, the living room, dining area and kitchen flow together as one. A marble bar counter gains a small wine-and-tea nook beside it, a touch that works just as well for everyday life as it does for hosting friends. Wood, marble, leather and black metal are layered for contrast and warmth, while a pendant light and metal shelving frame the open kitchen with the same crisp lines that run through the rest of the home.

The living room, where the couple spends the most time, is anchored by a two-seat leather sofa paired with a classic Eames lounge chair and ottoman, with a long cushioned bench set beneath the window so an otherwise idle corner becomes a place to sit and take in the view. The media wall is the considered heart of the scheme, outlined in oak and black-stained metal to keep the composition calm yet far from dull. In the master bedroom a passage divides the sleeping and dressing zones, a low raised platform lifts the bed, a timber ceiling carries into the walls, and a round yellow artwork in a black frame adds a single note of colour. Three glass folding doors lead through to the wardrobe, while the master bathroom is finished in terrazzo flooring, grey wall tile and twin basins for a look that is grounded and fresh.

From semicircular curves to a trapezoidal plan, and from the open kitchen to a study that quietly stands on its own, this Mid-Levels Central project shows how a bespoke framework can turn built-in constraints into everyday delight.
