New Territories Duplex

The family came to us with two wishes. A home that felt unhurried, and a layout that could carry a growing family without ever feeling tight. The flat sits high on the hillside, with green slopes close by and a sliver of distant harbour beyond, so our first move was the simplest one. Let the view do the talking, and keep everything else quiet.

Downstairs we opened the living, dining, and entry into one continuous, light-filled space, then drew the eye upward through a floating oak staircase. Each tread cantilevers from a micro-cement spine wall, paired with slim black balusters and a bronze handrail with a recessed light that guides the climb after dark. It is the heart of the home and, quietly, its sculpture.

Nearly everything you see was custom-made for this home by our trusted partner factory. The full-height wardrobes, the two-tone media wall, the curved fluted cabinet that greets you at the entry behind a panel of soft sage glass. We worked in a warm, restrained palette of pale oak, greige plaster, and a recurring sage green, and softened almost every corner with a curve, which matters in a home with young children.

The children's rooms carry the same calm with a little more play. A blush-pink room with an arched display niche for one, a navy room with a built-in glass case for a collection for the other. Upstairs, a small reading nook sits on the landing where the afternoon light lands. The result is a duplex that feels generous without being grand. A family home first, and a quiet one.
