Hatton Place

Hatton Place is an interior design project completed by Artwill Interior Design House in 2011, located in Hong Kong Island, a 1,600 sq. ft. unit handled by Regina Kwok and the design team across Interior Design & Build.

A 1,600-square-foot flat at Hatton Place in Mid-Levels West, designed and built for a couple living the fast-paced Hong Kong life, with the green of Lung Fu Shan right outside.

The husband worked long hours and travelled often, so he was not always home, and with only two of them, we reworked the three-bedroom layout into a large master bedroom and a study. Rather than a formal door, the study got a sliding tinted-glass partition, so he stays connected to the home even when he has to work. When they are both in, they like to unwind together and have friends over.

The setting did a lot of the design for us. In the master bathroom, we turned the bathtub to face the window that opens onto the lush Lung Fu Shan hillside. Two walk-in closets and generous storage let the couple clear every bit of clutter out of sight before guests arrive, and an enlarged kitchen with a minibar-cum-breakfast bar gives them plenty of room to show off their cooking.

They wanted a minimalist home but insisted on the highest quality throughout. Natural tones and unvarnished timber echo the surroundings and suit their wish for a relaxed, contemporary feel. The joinery was made to measure by our trusted partner factory, and we fitted an IQAir purifier and Grander water systems to keep them close to the best of nature, indoors as well as out.
