Marina South

The flat was large to begin with, so our job was to make it feel even more open, not to fill it up. We held the whole interior to two or three neutral tones and brought in cement and timber for warmth and grain, then kept the furniture deliberately sparse so the layout itself, and the wide sea view outside, stay the loudest things in the room.

The boldest move is the master bedroom. Rather than wall it off, we wrapped three sides in glass and windows and left the fourth open, so the room reads as part of the same continuous space. When the owners want privacy, a sliding door closes it off, and a flick of a switch turns the glass wall opaque, so the openness is a choice they make day to day, not a fixed compromise.

What joinery there is was custom-made for the flat by our trusted partner factory, kept low and quiet so nothing competes with the long sightlines. It is residential interior design at its most restrained: a calm, open-plan home on the south side that lets the space, the light, and the harbour carry the whole thing.
