Monmouth Villa

At Monmouth Villa on Hong Kong Island, Artwill shaped a calm, warm-modern home where reclaimed timber, soft neutrals and generous daylight do the talking.

The social heart is an open-plan living, dining and kitchen run that we kept low and unhurried. A long, textured wall of reclaimed wood strips anchors one side, its deep browns warming the otherwise pale, off-white palette. Sofas in taupe and oatmeal linen sit around a solid timber coffee table, lifted by rust and cocoa cushions and a low black media console. Overhead, a floating ceiling raft hides a band of warm cove light, while slim track spots pick out the art and accessories. A floor-to-ceiling glass sliding partition lets the living room borrow light and view from the balcony beyond, so the space feels open yet defined.

Pale oak flooring runs throughout, grounding the rooms and bouncing the city light that pours in through the corner glazing. In the open kitchen and bar zone we used a dark stone counter and back wall as a quiet counterpoint to the wood, with a leafy plant and a slim floor lamp softening the edges. Black sculptural vases, a panda-print canvas and a sunburst artwork add personality without clutter, the kind of considered styling that makes a home feel lived-in rather than staged.

The bedrooms carry the same restraint into rest. A buttoned cream headboard, layered white quilting and charcoal scatter cushions sit beneath a recessed cove glow, with black-cube bedside tables and classic table lamps framing the bed. Wrap-around corner windows and full curtains let owners wake to the skyline or draw everything quiet. A second, larger suite doubles as a study, where a black writing desk on chrome legs and a cow-hide rug bridge the work and sleep zones with ease. If you are planning interior design for a home on Hong Kong Island, we would love to hear from you; reach out to Regina Kwok and the Artwill team to start the conversation.
