New Territories 2009 Interior Design & Build

Ocean Pointe

Ocean Pointe is an interior design project completed by Artwill Interior Design House in 2009, located in New Territories, a 888 sq. ft. unit handled by Regina Kwok and the design team across Interior Design & Build.

An 888-square-foot flat at Ocean Pointe in Sham Tseng, designed and built as a bachelor's dream home, tailored down to the last detail around how one man wanted to live.

The owner travelled constantly for work and was building this entirely for himself, so we tore down the three original rooms to make a single, open one-bedroom layout. The large bedroom that resulted got a walk-in closet, and the living area kept a powder room for the occasional guest. With no one else to plan around, the whole interior design could bend to his habits.

Three things mattered to him in town: cycling, films, and switching off. The space we freed up went straight to those. A home theatre system, storage for a large DVD collection, and a bicycle rack that lifts his bike into the wall on a hydraulic arm. We placed a circular bed so the headboard can rotate to face the view of Tsing Ma Bridge or turn away from it, depending on his mood.

He asked for only three colours in the home: black, red, and purple, and we ran with his palette rather than soften it. The fitted joinery was made to measure by our trusted partner factory. When we suggested a lighting system, he took the idea further than we expected, and it ended up programmed around the Seven Deadly Sins, which tells you exactly how personal this flat is.

With no one else to plan around, the whole interior design could bend to his habits.
