Ocean Pointe

Coming from a smaller flat, the owners were ready to build the home they had pictured, and de-cluttering was mission number one. We did not just add plenty of storage, we spread it right across the flat so they could put things away with the least effort no matter which room they were in. We even filled in the semi-circular bay window in the bedroom so the space under the sill could store things, with a top you can perch on for a moment's rest.

Because they worked from home, rooms had to pull double duty. We took advantage of the 11-foot ceiling to drop a false ceiling and hide two sets of roller blinds inside it. One blind partitions off half the living room as a guest bedroom; the second, an L-shaped one, screens off the work corner in the master to form a proper study on its own. Every TV in the flat sits on a rotating stand so it can be watched from any angle, which is flexible, small-flat interior design at work.

Since the owners spent so much time here, the flat had to stay fresh and never feel boxed-in. To keep it feeling as open as possible, we finished the walls in overlapping panels that build a sense of depth, then worked in touches that nod to the outdoors: wooden floors and a wall illustration of trees and birds, a soft layer set against the real backdrop of Tsing Ma Bridge through the window.
