Greenville Gardens

Greenville Gardens is an interior design project completed by Artwill Interior Design House in 2019, located in Hong Kong Island, a 1,506 sq. ft. unit handled by Regina Kwok and the design team across Interior Design & Build.

A 1,506-square-foot flat at Greenville Gardens in Mid-Levels East on Hong Kong Island, an interior design and build for a home cook who finally got the kitchen he had been dreaming of for ten years.

For a decade the owner had cooked in a cramped galley kitchen, so the whole brief came down to one wish: give him room to cook properly. To get there we reworked the original four-bedroom layout, took out one bedroom, and turned the kitchen so it could open up and breathe alongside the dining room, the two now reading as one tall, connected space.

Philippe Starck's Big Will table leads you in from the dining side, set against the kitchen's marble walls and panelled accents so the room works as a composition, not just a place to cook. The kitchen does not have to stay open, though: a run of clear sliding doors can close it off completely, so he can throw it open when friends are over, or shut it and focus when a dish needs his full attention.

The marble, the panelling, and the joinery were custom-built for the flat by our trusted partner factory, sized to the new layout rather than the old one. It is residential interior design built around a single, honest brief, and the result is an open-plan Mid-Levels home where the kitchen, at last, is the main event.
